Wayne State University campus walking through the student union center. When they showed the footage on TV some people were actually cheering. I could have puked!

GM Milford Proving Ground, bldg #16. I was sitting at my desk when somebody told me a plan crashed into the WTC. He didnt know much. I pictured a small private plane….until I went to the cafeteria in time to see the 2nd plane hit. I watched in horror and then left work. I wasn’t getting anything else done that day…

Lincoln Alabama, in a double wide construction trailer on what would eventually become the Honda assembly plant grounds. I was in the safety and training trailer. Someone walked in and indicated that the U.S. was under attack. We turned on the TV just before the second plane struck, and I was still watching when the first tower fell….

I was at work on Engine 5 in Warren. The whole crew was sitting around the table watching the news when it happened. We were all in such disbelief and assumed like most it was a small plane until we saw the second plane hit. No one spoke for a long time. When the towers fell my Lt said, “We just lost a whole lotta firemen.”

I was driving home, having just flown in from Burlington, VT. Like The Belgian, I pictured a foggy day and some small airplane… Spent the next several days glued to the TV. I flew the third or fourth flight to depart DTW when flying resumed. To this day it still affects me and how I look at passengers…
