CrossFit is more than just going to the gym a few days per week – it’s a sport. In the next month there are a few important events that can be attended by CrossFitters at all levels. The ‘Who is fittest in Michigan’ challenge as well as the Midwest Regional Qualifier to be held at Rogue Fitness in May.
The competitive aspect of CrossFit as well as the participation of the stopwatch are some of the the things that separates CrossFit from other ways of getting in shape. Turning ‘working out’ into a sport makes goal setting a priority and writing down accomplishments and invaluable part of the program. Not only are you getting ‘fitter’ you are able to document by how much and compare yourself to some of the fittest people in the world.
The CrossFit games are, in my opinion, the true test of who is fittest. The events in Ann Arbor on April 25th and in Columbus on May 16th and 17th will give you a true feel of the sport of fitness and what it looks like. Make an effort to get out there, even if it is only to sit and watch.
So far 3 of our members will be competing in the Regional – Carey, Vinny and Myself. We hope to bring a good group down to the Buckeye State so let me know if you want to tag along.
Here is a cool pic of one of our members doing a 1 arm handstand. He wishes to keep his identity confidential so we will call him ‘Mr. Smith’. Good job!!
