Just wanted to write up a short post commending some members here at Motor City Crossfit.
Rodney has spent the last few weeks doing some serious work improving his olympic lifts. Just like every other guy out there, I know he wants to find out just how much he can lift overhead, but he’s dedicated to learning the proper technique first, and has just been nailing it. And I think he’s going to get me into doing my first triathlon (a small one of course). The biking will probably be fine, the running I can deal with, but I can’t barely swim from one end of the pool to the other (read: horrible swimming technique), but I really need to learn how to do it. So, we’ll see huh?
Mike K has been getting much better in both the upper body strength department, and his technique keeps getting better. PLUS, he just won the 40-49 age class at the Michigan Short Track Championships, and this was his first competition in somewhere close to a decade. Not too shabby.
Vinny just completed his Intro to CF sessions, and we finished it up with a repeat of his first workout, a 10 minute Cindy (Max rounds in 10 minutes of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats). He scored a smokin’ 9 rounds in 10 minutes, and that’s a huge improvement over his first time at that workout. I’ve never watched anyone learn movements as quickly as he does. He may have some trouble the first day he tries them, but literally the second time we try them, it’s like he’s been doing them for months.
John Paul, let me tell you, this man is destined for competition in Weightlifting. We started teaching the power clean last week, and it was like he’s been doing it for years. We barely had to teach him anything, I just kinda sat there and said “um, yeah, like that”.
Andrew has brought out a few friends (Elias and Robert) lately, and they’ve both done a good job on their first time out, it’ll be nice if they can join us on a regular basis and give Andrew someone to compete against.
And on that note, Lindsay (who happens to be Andrew’s sister) has joined us and did a great workout on her first time out, we expect to be seeing her around more often. I think work ethic runs in the family, we’ll see some great workouts out of her.
