This question comes up often as people are trying to decide where to put their hard earned dollars in a tough economy. Here are some of the things I hear people say…
1. My gym has all this nice equipment…
2. My gym is open 24 hrs…
3. My gym has plasma TV’s and magazines to read…
4. My gym has a juice/smoothie station…
5. Why would I join Motor City CrossFit when I can get all of the above at my current gym?
Here’s the thing. If you are meeting your fitness goals going to your gym then you are in the minority and should stick with it. If you have always found yourself unmotivated, confused (on what to do) and lacking results you need to look at other options. I’ve had a gym membership for most of my adult life. At one point I didn’t go for almost 2 years!!
Why in the world would anybody pay $135 a month to go to a place with no TV’s and minimal equipment 3x per week?
Let me put it to you a different way. How much would you pay to bring your bodyfat down to below 15%, be able to do 100+ pullups in a single workout, or run a mile in under 7 minutes? How much would pay to go from an inactive lifestyle to an athletic one? How much would you pay to lower your blood pressure, lower your cholesterol, and fit in those 32 inch jeans you used to wear. How much would you pay to have people you haven’t seen in 6 months stare at you because they couldn’t believe thier eyes? What would you pay if your very life/career depended on you being being fit??
If you could do this at the snap of a finger would you pay $25K? More? Less?
You cannot put a price on the ‘feel good’ sense of accomplishment knowing you have achieved your fitness goals.
CrossFit isn’t cheap. But it IS a bargain. It is also very difficult. Speaking from experience, I can say this. Had I not become part of the CrossFit community, I would’ve been headed down a dangerous road. The community, coaching and results provided to me by the CrossFit program have enabled me to become a better person, one that is happier, stronger, faster and leaner.
All things being equal. The fitter person is the happier person.
Too busy to work out? Don’t get me started…:-)
Well put.
Thank you Brian!
