hey Carey…hang in there
I started in june, and by august was feeling fantastic, but honestly have spent the last 6 or 8 weeks struggling, if it isn’t the flu, then it’s injury, or schedules……sucks huge…but remember this, the fact that you were performing at that level at one time is irrefutable proof that you are completely capable of it……..just have to find your rhythm again……patience and persistence

If you are a ‘lurker’ and are thinking of trying CrossFit – please ignore all posts from ‘Coop’ as they will most certainly involve some sort of an ‘injury’. He is accident prone, clumsy and has bad luck. 🙂

Coop is a must have in our gym!! You are absolutely the most uplifting and motivational person I know!!!
Carey, I really think the cold weather has a lot to do with it. You’ll catch your Mojo!

First time doing this one….293 total reps. Need to work on my pull-ups, definately my weakness. Pretty good on the squats though.
From my view of things Carey, you are doing great. I know it is easy for me to say since I just started but I am sure you will get your groove back!

I agree w/ you Jo… Coop is a “must-have” at the gym – even if he does count aloud! LOL!
Anyhow… thanks ladies for your posts!

Carey, any changes in your diet? If not, maybe a change is what you need? Try doubling your fat intake, if you follow the Zone. I did that before, as well as followed the 3 on 1 off fairly strictly, and had a pretty nice run of PR’s.

Brian G… is this Brian G from SS?
Anyhow… the week that I took off – I was on a cruise and I did not follow the Zone whatsoever & consumed a large amount of alcohol! The day after I got back – I went right back on the Zone. I do double my fat – sometimes I triple it. I usually go 3 on 1 off and then 2 on 1 off and we follow the main site starting from a different date… I was kickin’ some booty prior to the cruise. I guess, like Joanna said, it could be the weather, my bad eating/drinking habits during the whole time of my rest week and my mind set. Hopefully – this will pass and I’ll be back to where I was before the cruise.
John J… I Zone. I find that it works for me. I have not even attempted Paleo yet – I love cheese too much! 🙂
Carey, don’t feel too bad. I did the following workout twice so far:
Row 2k
50 Wall Ball
Row 1k
35 Wall ball
Row 500m
20 Wall Ball
I did it about 2 or 3 months into my venture into CrossFit, with a 26 lb med ball (that sand filled basketball beast) at about an 8 1/2 foot, maybe 9 foot target (the roof in my garage).
The second time I did it was just a few weeks ago, 20 lb ball, 10 foot target.
My time difference? One second faster. One freaking measly second.
Part of it was, I remember busting my freaking butt and nearly wanting to quit that workout the first time, and the second time, I paced myself on the row especially so I could keep going, and was more steady. I probably didn’t push as hard as I could have the second time. That’s easy to do with CrossFit, when you know your limits in a particular movement, it’s easy to pace or things up into sets, but sometimes the pace is too easy, or the breaks get a little too long.
Overall pacing and breaking up into sets is going to result in faster times when doing benchmarks, as long as you’re still pushing your limits.

Joanna and Carey……thanks for the love
Jason……clumsy, and accident prone are characteristics which can be corrected…….I was wondering, have they developed a countermeasure for “short” yet??
Joking aside, I honestly think that the more dialed in you get things, the more “sensitive” your body becomes to disruption……there are so many factors that can play a part, food, sleep, stress, hormonal cycles, etc that trying to nail down every aspect is nearly impossible. Just keep doing the “right” things and the payoff will come.

Who’s short? 🙂
John J. Need to get you in touch with Jim or Coop – Both CF nutrition certified. Easiest diet for most beginners to follow though is this…
Eat meat, veggies, nuts and seeds. Some fruit, little starch and NO sugar.
Don’t eat too much, and don’t eat too little.
If you have to ask if you can have x….then answer is probably no. Unless it’s bacon. Go ahead I say.

Jake,
The family oriented nature of this site prevents me from responding to your inquiry with the appropriate degree of color, and depth of depravity that is warranted……
