Part 1 and 2 talked about how Crossfit and a functional fitness program helps Marines, soldiers, Airmen and Sailors prepare for the asymmetrical battle field. We talked about how it helps the local Police, Fire and SWAT personnel complete their mission. But how can it help me? A friend of mine Lou Hayes Of Trinity Training group (http://trinitytraining.blogspot.com/search/label/Functionalism ) explained it best.
A Functionalist is one who prepares for a life strewn with physical tasks, efforts, and obstacles (both planned and unexpected), by learning, mimicking, and perfecting those body functions and abilities necessary for survival, completion, efficiency, and victory. There are movements each and every one of us must master to live a productive physical life. We’re not all trench diggers or SWAT police officers, but we are all human animals required to do physical tasks…with some basic fundamental level of fitness. Even if our jobs do not require physical fitness, our lives do. We lift, carry, bend, twist, rotate, grab, and squat.
Find a physical fitness program that works for you and stick with it. Remember It’s about teaching all the muscles to work together rather than isolating them to work independently. Vary your work outs, boredom is the killer of any work out regiment. Good luck
